Not Your Average Tiger: While we wouldn’t welcome a real tiger into our homes, the Toyger cat is definitely welcome!

Breed Development:

Developed in the 1980s.
A cross between the domestic shorthair tabby and the Bengal cat.
Recently recognized as a Championship breed.
Physical Features:

Medium-sized head.
Small, round ears set wide apart.
Pale nose.
Short fur coat, thicker around the temples and ears.
Long, thin tail.
Distinctive Markings:

Coat colors range from brown pumpkin to light black.
Dark, bold stripes contrast with the coat color.
Stripes run in broken vertical lines across the body and form circular patterns around the neck, legs, and tail.
Stripes also cover the belly and inside of the legs.
Face features include ‘mascara’ markings around the eyes, black lipstick-like markings around the mouth, and a black tip on the tail and paw pads.
Physical Build and Movement:

Strong, muscular body.
Graceful walk.
Resembles a ‘toy tiger’, hence the name Toyger.
Personality Traits:

Intelligent, active, and alert.
Affectionate and friendly towards humans.
Easy to train, can be taught to walk on a leash and play fetch.
