Tasmanian Devil Marsupial

3 Tasmanian Devil Fun Facts
The Tasmanian devil gained its reputation as a fierce and unpredictable animal due to its aggressive behavior when defending itself or its young from predators or fighting over food. Native only to the island of Tasmania, it is the largest carnivorous marsupial, measuring about 75 cm (30 inches) in length and weighing up to 12 kilograms.
Resembling a small bear, it has a rough black-brown coat and a distinctive loping gait. Its oversized head and powerful jaws can deliver one of the strongest bites known. The Tasmanian devil is nocturnal, hunting small animals such as birds, snakes, fish, and insects, and it consumes everything, including hair and bones.
Female devils give birth to 20 to 30 tiny offspring, each the size of a raisin, which must crawl through her fur into a backward-facing pouch. However, only four survive, as there are just four teats available in the pouch, causing the rest to die of starvation.
